Abolitionist Movement: The Abolitionist Movement was an event that took place between 1830 and 1870. Its purpose was to free enslaved African Americans. During this time most of America's money came from slavery and the North had phased out slavery, also during this time anti-slavery members would gradually try to eat away against slavery or helping slaves travel the North. An organization called the American Anti-Slavery Society consisted of over 250,000 members. Famous anti-slavery members like Harriet Tubman and Henry Bibb helped slaves move North through the Underground Railroad.
